RosaNegra - Just walking its first steps, with
its first live presentation on last April 27th, RosaNegra is a
surprising new musical project within the ways of the so called
'new fado', the new approaches to the most traditional urban
Portuguese musical expression, celebrating its past in order to
build its future. As the voice of 'fado' has always been the voice of Destiny, being both basically the same (after all 'fado' also means fate) it is quite natural to look at them with respect but also with freedom, the freedom to find them in our own way, inside our 'fadista' soul. Tinged with warm tones and deep shadows, the melodic moans of its music blend with tribal movements, rhythms from the desert supporting an intensely adventurous fadista voice, in a web of musical arrangements full of Iberian/Mediterranean inspirations, where percussions, strings, trumpet, piano and accordion always point and suggest Oriental memories, crossing imaginary paths of goings and comings, memories from my heart. On stage, Carmo, the RosaNegra singer, six players and one dancer in a stunning performance full of hiding veils, insinuating lights, movements and sounds, introspective words that will make us look inside, asking ourselves why does this music sound so natural. Will it be because it drank its inspiration from the fountain where we really came from?....... RosaNegra is a RAGA production, being RAGA a new production company completely engaged in the search of our own new musical aesthetics, made locally to be heard and seen globally. |
